Motorcycle Cleaner Muc Off Cleaner

I haven't blogged for a while as the weather has been awful in the UK and a lot of Motorbikes are still under the Winter cover.  I have to say that i am not surprised that the bikes haven't come out, although we did have a couple of days when the sun stayed out and the bikes were out in force.  But if like me you still ride in the wet (although not all the time) then you will need a good cleaner to keep your bike looking good.  The Muc Off range of products is what i use and the range is quite extensive.  You can view the full range on the Muc-off Website.  I have used the Muc Off Cleaner to keep my bike looking good.  They also offer a Quick Drying Chain Cleaner and Chain Lube which I have also used and i am very happy with it.
They have the microfibre cloths and sponges polishes Disc brake cleaner Silicon Shine and much more all i have tried and would recommend.  I also use the premium Anti Fog visor spray and i have tried a few of these products but this one really does work.
The cleaner comes in 1, 2, 5 or 25 litre bottles you need to give it a try.

Well lets hope the sun comes out soon and the rain disappears
Stay safe

Whats happened to the weather? Big Motorbike weekend!

Normally in April riders get their Motorbikes out and begin riding as the winter has gone and the warm weather has arrived.  Most Motorcyclists ride in the warm weather and at weekends were they will meet up with other riders and go for a blast on their bikes.  However this year the weather in the UK has been dreadful and although riders got there bikes out, taxed insured and serviced ready to go, the weather has stopped alot of riders going out.  Will it change for May?  According to the weather men apparently not.  The bad weather, rain mainly, will remain they say throughout May. So what does this mean?
Many motorcyclists are not venturing out on their bikes. Some of the places that are for motorcyclists have seen a big decline in numbers due to the bad weather.  All we can do is hope that the weathermen have got May wrong and the weather improves and we all can get out on the bikes.  Today (2nd May) the weather is not bad at all and i am hoping to see a few riders out tonight.

This week-end is also a full programme of racing, with the MotoGP, World SuperBikes (WSBK) and the third round of the British SuperBikes (BSB) at Oulton Park.  Anybody Going?
I am hoping to get to Oulton Park on Monday but will be watching the MotGP and WSBK on the Tele this week-end.  Casey Stoner will hope to grab his 2nd Victory this season but will be pushed all the way by Lorenzo on his Yamaha, while i will be hoping that Crutchlow finally gets a podium finish having a fantastic ride in the last round. Did anybody see that last race?
Its early in the season and everybody is still looking for the best settings and getting their bike into good shape for the season ahead.  My money is still on Casey Stoner to win the MotoGP this season but i hope that he is pushed not only by Lorenzo but Crutchlow too, it would be fantastic to see a Britsh rider at the top.

So lets hope the week-end is dry and sunny for a ride out and Cructhlow wins the MotoGP

Viper RSV131 Bluetooth Motorcycle Flip Front Helmet

Do you like to keep in touch with other riders while you are out on your Motorbike?  If so then why not try the Viper RSV131 Motorcycle Flip Front Helmet. This helmet has the latest Bluetooth technology and allows you to keep in touch with the pillion or other riders.  You can listen to music or have the sat-nav connected, you can even talk on the phone if the need arises.  There are some retro fit Bluetooth kits on the market but this helmet has the kit already integrated into the helmet so there is no messy wires to hide like there is when you try a retro fit Bluetooth kit and this helmet is less then £150.00 so a bargain too.  The helmet itself is ECE22.05 approved for all European roads and even carries the ACU gold for the track. It has an integrated drop down sun visor with an anti-scratch visor.  The helmet has a quick release ratchet buckle strap and has high density noise reducing lining.
A great looking helmet that keeps you in touch with your co riders.

First Round British Super Bikes (BSB)

The much awaited start to the new BSB season began at the week-end.  Unfortunately due to the terrible conditions of the track the racing was stopped and only one BSB race took place.  The weather was awful with the rain coming down for most of the day and the track had no grip.  This was made worse as riders were crashing and leaving oil and petrol on the track.  So the organisers really had no choice but to stop the racing in the afternoon after two starts to the 600 super stock race.   They tried to keep the racing on by sending out the BSB riders for an eight minute free practice, but all of them agreed that the surface was like ice and not safe to race.  This was a shame, but the right decision as many riders had already fallen due to the  surface.
However there was one race in the wet at Brands and that was won by John Kirkham on the Samsung Honda.  Tommy Hill the reigning champion crashed out due to the track conditions. The full result is below

So its all move to the next round this week-end at Thruxton.  Lets hope for better weather!

British Superbikes (BSB) Starts Easter Week-end

The long awaited start to this years BSB starts on Easter Monday.  All the riders have been busy testing the bikes and getting things ready for the start.  The first round will be at Brands Hatch in Kent on the short Indy circuit and reigning champion Tommy Hill is very upbeat and looking forward to defending his title.
Last years winner of race one was Shane (Shakey) Byrne with Tommy Hill 2nd, but Shakey has left the HM Plant Honda team and switched to the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki for this season.  Will he make a winning start? The second race from last year was won by Tommy on his Swan Yamaha with Shakey having to settle for third behind  Ryuichi Kiyonar.
Whose your money on for the title this season?
I hope its as close as it was last year with just a wheel separating Hill and Hopkins for the title, Hopkins has left BSB and moved to World Superbikes (WSBK) and he will be missed, but BSB still has a great pedigree of riders and we are all excited and looking forward to a great season.
The countdown has begun...

Leather Motorcycle Gloves

Leather Motorcycle Glove NG101
With the warmer weather approaching its now a good time to look at the Motorcycle Gloves especially if they can match your bike colours.  We have a leather gloves available in Black, Red or Blue. The NG101 Leather Motorcycle Glove is a fantastic race glove. It has a cow leather outer with carbon leather reinforcement side panel. Together with a resin and matt nylon knuckle reinforcement.  It has a palm cuff strap and polyester inner. A great looking Glove that fells very comfortable.
These gloves are not a winter glove as they have no thermal lining.  However with a pair of glove liners that can be rectified,  but since the sun is shining at the moment as I look out of the window, the glove itself will be fine.

Box BX1 Motorcycle Helmets.

For years now the price of a Motorbike Helmet has been reducing.  Some brands still maintain their prices for motorcycle Helmets while other brands are made for the beginner and so are less expensive.  Motorbike Helmets today range in price from as low as £45 and can go up to £800, but some of the cheaper brands offer a great helmet that meets or exceeds the safety standards needed for Motorcycle helmets.
Such a brand is Box Motorcycle Helmets.  There price for the BX1 full face Helmet starts at just £42.74.  The helmet is ECE22.05 approved for all european roads, it is a lightweight helmet with ventilation through 5 vents that can be open or shut. With a quick release visor mechanism and a comfort fit plush liner the helmet is a winner. It is available in Gloss Black Matt Black Gloss White Gloss Silver
The helmet also comes with a carry bag. A good looking helmet you will not be disappointed with.

Stormex Motorcycle Cover

Following the last blogg where we talked about the Oxford Aquatex Motorcycle Cover being a lightweight cover ideal for the commuters, there are other covers available that are more robust.  The Oxford Stormex Motorbike Cover is one such cover.  This cover is made from stronger heavier material. The tough outer fabric protects against all weather.  It has a soft, heat resistant lining that protects against scratches.  If your Motorbike is left on the road, this cover has Reflective panels to increase the visibility at night.  Strategically positioned holes to facilitate the use of a lock and a lock pouch to keep the padlock off the ground.  This is a waterproof cover with an adjustable belly strap to hold the cover in  place.
This cover doesn't pack to a small package like the Aquatex and so it is not ideal to carry around.  The cover is available in two sizes, Medium and Large.  The medium is for the lightweights and sports bikes and the large for the tourers.

Motorcycle Cover

Do you use a cover to protect your motorcycle from the elements?  Is your Motorbike left out in all weathers or garaged every night?

What ever the answer it is always best to keep your Motorbike covered.  It protects your bike against the weather or if garaged protects from the dust.
There are different types of cover available for you depending on the protection you need.
Some covers are lightweight and fold away and if you commute then these types of covers can be useful to keep you bike protected while at work.  The Oxford Aquatex Waterproof Cover is ideal for this as it comes  with a carry bag and folds away neatly and easily into it.  It has an under strap to keep the cover on your bike and also has holes in the front for a security Chain.  This cover is waterproof and double stitched for extra strength on the seams.  Complete with an elasticated bottom for the snug fit.  It is available in 3 sizes, Medium for the lightweights, Large for the medium weights, 600 750 and the sports 1000cc and the XL for the tourers.
This cover is also ideal if your bike is garaged as it will also protect the bike from dust particles.  So all in all an all round inexpensive cover for your Motorcycle.
Also keeping your Motorcycle covered can deter thief's from striking.  So keep it covered and locked at all times.

Motorcycle Security Keep it locked and safe

There are many different Motorcycle security that can be purchased to keep your bike safe.
But which is best?
Surveys have shown that to have no security greatly increases the theft of your beloved motorbike.  Something is better then nothing!
Some use a simple Disc Lock Once you have parked your motorcycle up, attach the disc lock to prevent theft.  Some Disc locks have reminder cables, the worst thing you can do is forget that you have put a disc lock on your bike and ride away, or try to ride away.  So if you are using or thinking of using a disc lock always put a reminder cable on as well. The Disc Locks are light and easy to carry

There are also Security Chains and Locks.  This are good if you have a suitable place to park and can put the chain around something that is secured to the floor.  Some use Ground Anchors wrap the chain around and secure it to the motorcycle.
Which is best?

Well the Chain and lock are more substantial then a disc lock, but it depends on where is motorbike is located during a period of time.  If you commute to work on your bike, the chain and lock would be a great idea, if however there is nowhere to anchor the chain, then the disc lock would be equally as good.
Some Disc locks can also act as an alarm and if the motorbike is moved at all then the alarm will ring out notifying you that the motorbike is being moved.
So I would say that while at home whether in a garage or not, you use a chain and lock with a ground anchor.  Then while at work a Disc Lock would put the criminals off from taking your bike.
There are different types of locks, but always look for a "sold secure" or Thatcham Approved as this wil also reduce your insurance premiums.
Hope this helps you decide which way to go on security for your motorcycle and don't leave it too late...

Do you need to replace your Motorcycle Helmet

This is a common question, when should you replace your Motorcycle Helmet?
Most manufactures say that the helmet should be replaced every 5 years or sooner.  They should always be replaced if you have had an accident or dropped the helmet.  Sometimes if you have dropped the helmet, it may not show any defects but it is always sensible to change since the helmet is only tested for a single impact.

All helmets now have to be tested to the European standard ECE22.05 for all European roads.  Then there is also a Gold ACU mark that means the helmets has been tested and is suitable for the race track. This however doesn't mean the the helmet is a better helmet then one without the sticker.
The ACU gold sticker is for Full face helmets and now even some flip front helmets carry the sticker which is good if you want to do a track day with a flip helmet.
The open face helmets will just carry the ECE22.05 sticker.

There are many different brands of helmet too and costs.  You can easily find a Full face motorbike helmet for less then £30 brand new and boxed if you shop around, or you can pay over £700 for a full face helmet and all in between so you have plenty of choice to suit every budget.
What is the difference between a £30 - £700 helmet?
The shell material is the main element, ranging from a polycarbonate shell, fibreglass up to carbon fibre.
The lining changes, vents, graphics and visor, weight and the overall feel when the helmet is on your head.

So change your helmet at least once every 5 years.  Don't leave it too long...

Nitro NGFP Panther Motorcycle Motorbike Crash Helmet

This is another one of Nitro Motorcycle Helmets.  Made from the same shell as the London Motorbike Helmet we have previously mentioned, this Nitro Panther Helmet has great graphics with the panther prowling on the helmet.  We have put a video on Youtube so you can see the detail close up.
The helmet comes with a clear visor not the dark as shown, but the dark can be purchased and does make the helmet look meaner. It is a multi poly constructed shell and has a duel position chin bar ventilation with an internal closure. There is a central air filtration system with Dual rear exhaust vents. The visor is pinlock prepared and is an injection moulded 3D visor with an anti-scratch coating. Fully removable and washable liner system and a micrometric buckle for ultimate adjustability and perfect tension.
A great looking helmet with fantastic graphics, this particular motorcycle helmet is available in a gloss or matt finish.

BSB Who is your money on?

The new 2012 British SuperBikes (BSB) season will soon be here, whose your money on?
The reigning champion Tommy Hill is feeling good and hoping to regain the crown, but there are plenty of riders who are hoping to be ahead of him at the end of the season. Last seasons final round was as exciting a race as there as perhaps ever been with Hill taking the championship on the last lap by a wheel width
My money is on Shane Shaky Byrne, he has swapped over to the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki  and is very excited about the up and coming season.
The first round is at Brands Hatch on the week-end 6th-9th April and i am looking forward to all the excitement to come.

HJC R-PHA 10 Motorcycle Helmets

Hi,
My name is Billy and I have a business called BDLA Motorbike Accessories based in Daybrook Nottingham.
We sell a variety of accessories from Helmets to boots and and a few parts, indicators batteries and brake pads.  We are a young company and it is great being involved in something that I am interested in.
Currently we have the HJC R-PHA 10 Helmet in stock.  This is a race helmet with the same shell as worn by the MotoGP rider Ben Spies.  The helmet is only 1200grams which is very light for a helmet and it is the first thing that people notice about it as soon as they pick it up.  I wear one of these helmets and i have to say that you can hardly tell you have a helmet on.  They are extremely comfortable and the peripheral vision is also very good. Click Here to view the helmet.  It does come in different graphics not just the MotoGP colours.
Does anybody else wear this helmet and what do you feel about them?

All comments welcome
Cheers
Billy

Just uploaded a video for the helmet Check it out here and tell me what you think
